Welcome
Currently, the National Development Agenda of Ghana is to make the country a middle income economy by the year 2015. Rooted in this lofty objective is the expected oil revenue which if actualized is likely to put construction demands to scales unparalleled in the records of this country. However, a persisting spectre of adversarial contracting, sub-optimal outcomes, deteriorating quality of construction workforce, poor health and safety performance, etc have threatened to derail efforts aimed at delivering value for money in the Ghanaian Construction Industry (GCI). Notwithstanding, exploiting the activities and outcome of the GCI towards an anticipated socio-economic progress does not merely work on a fragile developmental framework and ill-equipped industry.
The million dollar question to be asked is, “Is the GCI ready for the huge impending opportunities and challenges which lie ahead?” The confidence required to answer this question demands aligning decision-making to the existence of a well thought-out Construction Industry Development Agenda (CIDA). More so, the need for accelerated socio-economic growth in the construction industry has intensified the search for more innovative means of delivering construction services that will achieve value for money. This suggests that expansion and restructuring of the GCI to cover procurement, capacity building, project delivery methods and strategies, with a focus on ‘best value’, has increasingly become a national concern and necessity; which requires a bold and drastic measures.
This is precisely where the Construction Industry Development Institute (CIDI) comes in with the aim of sandwiching the interests of development partners towards progressive, vibrant and workable construction industry in Ghana. The CIDI is reckoned for being the leading hub for construction innovation and excellence for the industry. CIDI brings together development partners, mainly, politicians, donor organizations, practitioners, consultants, contractors, merchants, researchers and students under one progressive organisation. This is in consonance with our philosophy to share best practice and ideas through quality education, competence building, higher standards of training and professionalism, enhanced business processes leading to superior corporate profitability, improved health and safety practices, standards development, policy drive, etc. The CIDI has been established to provide strategic leadership to construction stakeholders in Ghana and to stimulate sustainable growth, reform and improvement of the industry.
In line with our mission and corporate responsibility, CIDI has the ambition to establish partnerships with stakeholders involved with the CIDA; so as to develop strategies, design services, implement plans, monitor progress and control performance. One of the first and most important steps on this drive is to engage in a collective dialogue; a dialogue embedded in mutual trusts and benefits; a dialogue to which we invite you to join our steady efforts. No matter your need and where you are, we make sure you fit in somewhere, somehow. It is our hope that you find our services gratifying and will be glad to meet you soon on one of our development projects.
